The work is analysis that a client will make a decision on — what their spend actually looks like, what a dataset supports, what the difference is between a pattern and a coincidence. Then communicating it to someone who will not read the appendix.
What you would work on
Analysis of public datasets: funding data, spend data, compliance and vulnerability data, and the public filings that organizations in our sectors are required to make.
Client data analysis where the question is operational rather than academic — where the money goes, what the systems are actually doing, what changed.
Building the analysis so someone else can reproduce it. Stated method, reproducible result.
Occasionally contributing to published research under Qwalora’s name, which is corporate rather than bylined.
What we look for
You distinguish between what the data shows and what you would like it to show, and you say so when they differ.
You can write up a finding for a non-technical reader without hollowing it out.
Python or R, SQL, and enough statistics to know when a result is not significant.
A willingness to report that the answer is inconclusive. That is a finding, and most people will not say it.
